Mike Smith to be suspended?
The hub bub is that Mike Smith and his bald assistant(does anyone know his name?) are in line for fines and possible suspension from the league office for behavior unbecoming the NFL. Here is the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI0uJZqr9Us
As the video shows, Mike Smith definitely wasn't trying to break up a fight between 30 Falcons players and Meangelo Hall. He was telling Meangelo to get back on the ******* field!
Unfortunately, Meangelo had some choice words in order to incense Mike Smith and reportedly called him a "Fat f***!"
It honestly was a major highlight of the season for many of us and hopefully will be a unifying moment for this team if they want to get back into the playoff hunt.

It's great for firing up the team
But I find myself wishing the whole thing hadn’t happened. It’ll be tough not to have him on the sidelines if something does come down the pike.

He won't be suspended
Not a chance … THE only way his actions warrant a suspension is if he touched Sheangelo intending to hurt him. If (1) he was only to trying to separate people or (more likely) (2) his arm flail towards the end was only him trying to pull away from whoever was holding him, then this will all conclude a fine.
I’m glad Smitty did it. Heck, I wish Smitty had kneed him in the unmentionables. Go SMITTY!
If you’re reading this Sheangelo: GIZFLAM YOU! GIZFLAM YOU TO PERSNICKITY!

At least we know Mike Smith stands up for his players
Unlike our previous coach. Imagine what he would’ve done…fill in the blanks.

Easy to visualize
Petrino curling up into a fetal position in that situation.

I watched the video several times
And it appears that smitty might have hit him with an elbow, but I dont think it was intentional. I saw this post at Riggos Rag. A Redskins site obviously. I posted a comment there as Kenrock.

The elbow fling was him pulling away from the guy holding him back

Oh man.
I was yelling, “HIT HIM!!!! HIT HIM!!!!”
Of course there would’ve been some hammers laid down, but it would’ve been so worth it. They were talking so much junk earlier in the week, they almost deserved it.

this guy is one of the guys on my top ten list of kicks to the balls. I have a top ten of guys who if I ever see them in public I am gonna kick em straight up in the balls. He is currently number 8 on the list.

A fine on Smith?
I don’t think so. A coach is not fined or suspended for defending his players. Try raising a rabble somewhere else, like Hogs Heaven. That ploy won’t work here.

I don;t see anything worthy of a fine on Smith
We all know Hall is an a-hole…always talking junk. Love it though from Smith…tell it like it is!

I expect the league to give Mike Smith a bonus for telling MeAngelo to go the hell away....
If he was just trying to get Landry out of the pile as he said, why was it Landry that came back in to rescue him. What a dumb b——….

Even if Smitty crossed the line
(and I don’t think he did) suspension of a head coach is a very drastic move. Its not like baseball where a manager gets gets kicked out and the team runs on autopilot. A HC in football is crucial to in – game decisions even if he isn’t play calling. It would be a crippling blow. For that reason, along with the fact that the video evidence is not definitive and hall was obviously trying to start something, nothing will come of it

the asst. is Jeff Fish
or im pretty sure that was him, to my knowledge he’s the strenght and cond. coach
by gritzblitz on Nov 11, 2009 11:41 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Jeff Fish is gonna be fined pretty good, maybe a suspension
His jersey grab and cussing out MeAngelo is gonna cost him some. Mike Smith will probably get fined a lesser amount. Haynesworth and Landry have apparently already been fined for the fracas.
I predict that MeAngelo is gonna get a suspension.

you know that
in war, one of the strategies is to take out the generals (or other high ranking officers) first. that way with no leadership the rest of the men fall apart.
