Grimes' Mega Leap
via @lazmorph
I will burn this into my memory. Brent Grimes makes Jordan's half-court dunks look like child's play.

I thought that play was going for six for the bad guys, but then bam he must have been three feet off the ground. Thats how you make up for being 5’10’’ or whatever he is.

That pick is nasty

And Air Grimes is not a bad nickname

Jah!

Reporter: How will you address all of the dropped passes?

Mike Smith: I don’t think that we were as sharp as we have been catching the football. It’s something that is very fixable. It’s VERY fixable.

I want to see a few seconds more....

Did a Saint touch him while he was down? Could he have gotten up & ran?

by vanb on Nov 4, 2009 2:20 PM EST reply actions

Colston tackled him.

ESPY?

How much do you want to bet this won’t even be nominated for an ESPY because he isn’t a QB?

by Singletary on Nov 4, 2009 3:24 PM EST reply actions

Pretty much

One of the most amazing moves I’ve ever seen. Anyone who’s 5’9 and can do that in full pads deserves more praise than can be spoke of.

by Jebidillah on Nov 4, 2009 4:39 PM EST reply actions

Oh, and

The way he tried to run after the catch in midair was just as amazing. Please, don’t tell Air Grimes just how short he really is, because it’s obvious he doesn’t know.

Totally

That was his Luigi impression from Super Mario Bros 2

LOL

At the “Luigi impression” Jesse28.

As a poster who has been as hard on Grimes as anyone for the past 2 years I have to give him props for hanging tough on Monday. But I’m still not convinced he’s anything more than a great nickel back. He just gets abused too often by tough, physical receivers like your Colstons.

And let’s not go and nominate this play for an ESPY just yet…. All Day and Chris Johnson are trucking DBs weekly and that Ted Ginn fella had a pretty amazing KR just this week.

When I first saw this during the game

I was thinking, “#$ Grimes is out of position, it’s gonna be another huge play.” Then Grimes leaps up twice his height and snatches that thing out of the air, that was just freakishly awesome. One of the best plays of the game, other than that huge run by Turner in the fourth quarter wheres he’s pushing this huge pile and then breaks free for another 10 or 15 yards (put that one up next!).

That's weird...

the at sign doesn’t show up…

by orion12 on Nov 4, 2009 10:44 PM EST up reply actions

That run blew my mind

All my memories of last year’s Turner came flooding back…

by Mountvillainy on Nov 4, 2009 11:58 PM EST up reply actions

I'm curious as to how high he got.

I’m 5’11ish. Back in the day, I could dunk a tennis ball if I got an especially good jump. The problem with that is I would almost kill myself on the landing because I’d get up so high.

However, he misinterpreted his landing, which leads me to believe that his hands are in the realm of the 10.5’-11’ mark. That’s like the top of the white square on a basketball goal. Brent Grimes. 5’7". Top of square on basketball goal. Absorb that into your craniums for a bit.

If I was really good at math (or even just spent a few hours analyzing it) I could give a more accurate height, but for now, the guess will do. Regardless, it’s quite possibly one of the most athletic plays I’ve ever seen. I mean, plenty of people can run fast, but how many people can overcome their weakness and do THAT?? Grimes is like Superman at that point.

Nice pair of rocket shoes!

Nice Int. Sharper made the same type of grab on the last play of the game.

not even close.
