Ask Bleeding Green Nation

The Eagles head down to the ATL this week for a game that could have major playoff positioning implications for one or both teams.

Apparently we signed this former Falcon that I hear was a pretty big deal down there... Ran into some trouble a few years back... So I imagine you'll have some questions about him, but of course anything else you want to know I'd be happy to try and answer.

Ask me again around Friday.

All I can say now is that he hasn’t been ruled out and so far doesn’t appear to be experiencing any ill effects from the shot he took on Sunday. OR if he is they aren’t saying…

No, he said he’s almost certainly out.

Thoughts on Kciv Rebmun Neves (a.k.a. Mr. I Hate Canines)?

Reporter: How will you address all of the dropped passes?

Mike Smith: I don’t think that we were as sharp as we have been catching the football. It’s something that is very fixable. It’s VERY fixable.

Well more headlines than actual substance so far. He’s had exactly one really good play this whole season. He’s picked up a first down here and there… That’s pretty much it though.

I suppose it would have been silly for anyone to think he was going step back into the league after so long off and do what he used to. I’m not sure he ever will, but either way I doubt he’ll be with the Eagles next year to show it. Most people around town figured that this was the case of the Eagles trying to “buy” a draft pick for next year. They take the PR hit for bringing him back, work him back into shape, then flip for a pick.

I doubt the pick they get will be anything special, but they’ll get something.

We keep hearing the name Trent Cole

Tell us: Will Chris Redman live through the afternoon?

Well, that depends on whether more than just Trent Cole can generate a pass rush. Over the past couple weeks, he’s really been the only guy consistently getting to the QB.

That sounds like us

Except we have nobody getting to the quarterback at all.

Red Zone Woes

Last year, the Eagles ranked 28th in the League in RZ conversion percentage with 49%, scoring only 36 TDs on 63 RZ possessions.

This year, not only has the rate dropped even further to 47% (14/30), but the total No. of RZ possessions has also declined significantly. Given, the long DeSean Jackson TDs have helped overcome the RZ woes somewhat, but what is going on there? Is it Reid’s play-calling, is McNabb playing scared in the RZ, what is it?

by One.Cool.Customer on Dec 1, 2009 2:10 PM EST reply actions

I don’t know. It’s a lot of things. They’ve had some trouble with penalties at times, the interior of the line has failed to get a push a few times, there’s been some odd playcalls… It’s hard to put it on any one thing.

You are right in pointing out that a pretty crazy amount of their TDs this year have come from big plays. Whether it’s Jackson, Maclin, Avant, McCoy, Westbrook, or Weaver.

Interestingly enough, the Eagles currently hold the longest steak in the NFL for scoring points in the red zone. Obviously that includes TDs & FGs…

by JasonB on Dec 1, 2009 4:19 PM EST up reply actions

When you have DeSean Jackson, who needs the redzone?

All his TDs are big plays. He has won me many a FF game this year….I got him in a trade for Jerricho Cotchery in week 1. Muhahahaha….

With Westbrook out

what should the Falcons expect from the Eagles running game?

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. - Bill Shankly
