Owens to Start? Abe Pointing Fingers?
I really do not know how I feel about this ... I am glad Owens is stepping up, but should Abe really point fingers at this point?

yeah
I see nothing wrong with it. Abe needs to look in the mirror though. He isnt producing either.

Arthur Blank doesn't like that "going public" stuff
I doubt his attitude has changed since Home Depot days. Abe should know better.
Supposedly
Falcons coach Mike Smith said rookie CB Chris Owens will start against Philadelphia. Owens recorded his first career start against Tampa Bay yesterday.
I can’t find a link to that anywhere besides the “Rapid Reports” from CBS Sports.
Here’s an AJC article about how he felt he performed against the Bucs.

I'm okay with Owens
But frankly, Grimes ought to be starting at that other spot.

Wait
Are you saying it should be Grimes over Owens, or Grimes over Houston?
I can see him over Owens (even though I really want to see what Owens can give us), but I don’t agree with him over Houston. At least we know what we’re getting with Houston – solid, not great. Grimes is just so inconsistent. His highs are higher (the NO interception), but his lows are much lower (missed tackles on short hitches for big gains, etc) and seem to be more frequent. I don’t have my most recent numbers compiled, but I would guess that Houston’s numbers are better than his now (Grimes’ were better early).
Actually, here’s the numbers for Houston and Grimes from PFF. They’re virtually identical (both averages are exactly 12.6), except Grimes has been targeted 7 more times (60-53) in way less playing time (Houston 618 snaps, Grimes 441 snaps).

I meant Grimes should be starting for Owens
Sorry, that was confusing wording.
I think Owens could be a steady option, but with the defense being what it is right now, I’d rather put someone out there who has a better chance of making some big plays. Grimes is inconsistent and I understand that, but it’d be nice to have someone starting in the secondary who we know has the ability to deflect the ball away or make a nice pick now and then.

Of course, maybe I'm entirely wrong....
