Did you see what I saw on the Pats-Jets game?

Scrolling across the bottom of the screen on WGCL 46 several times during the Pats-Jets game was this message:

"Can you be an NFL field goal kicker?  We want to see and we may give your name to the Falcons.  Come to Morehouse College at the corner of Lowery Boulevard and Westview Drive from 1pm until 3pm Monday afternoon."

Ummm, huh?  What is that all about?  Who would be running that ad?  Do I have 75 words yet?

Seriously?

That station’s local news is pretty much the pitiful, unprofessional dregs of the Atlanta TV market. If that’s something they dreamed up to make a few waves, it’s in very poor taste IMO. The Falcons wouldn’t dream of touching that with a ten foot pole. I hope they revoke their press credentials for a while!

Dub Tee Eff?

Classless.

Reporter: How will you address all of the dropped passes?

Mike Smith: I don’t think that we were as sharp as we have been catching the football. It’s something that is very fixable. It’s VERY fixable.

Geez.

I think the ole’ hick’ry stick is gonna need to be brought out for those guys.

"Ryan, under center. Single receiver set, time on his side. Ryan, gonna throw. First professional pass.....CAUGHT!! Jenkins! 30! 25! 20! 15! 10! 5! He lives in Atlanta!!!"

Agreed

But alas, they haven’t cut Elam yet, thus it would seem they’re not looking for a replacement, at least for this week’s game.

That frustrates me

Elam’s not likely to miss a bunch of kicks in a low-pressure environment against the Bucs, but what if he does fine this week, everyone trumpets him and then he blows it against a better team? I don’t want to see that.

Completely agree

and if he does ever miss again in a crucial game, it would be a double blow

Hey

If I were closer to 40 than I am to 50 I would be there. I can still kick 40 consistently, but anything beyond that is iffy as hell.

If I learned some kicking technique, I might could do it.

Back in the day, me and some others used to kick FGs for no reason. I didn’t have very good technique but I could hit ’em from 35.

I also got bored enough one week to where I taught myself to drop kick PATs. That was fun.

Actually….now that I think about it, my little brother’s football coach was hittin ’em from 50 when I saw him last year. He said he played FB in college. Pretty weird combination, but he was drilling them.

Andersen's officially retired

I know he’s “retired” before, but it’s pretty much over for him.

I'm not even phased by Vick stuff anymore

He’s not on the Falcons, and he hasn’t been a part of this team for almost three years now.
