Atlanta Falcons At New Orleans Saints Open Thread

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints, Nov 2, 2009 8:30 PM EST

There's nothing that can be said about this game that we haven't covered already. Any way you slice it, it's going to be a good one, and I'm excited. Here's hoping for a win!

As usual, keep things lively here in the game thread. I will join you as soon as I can, my friends.

What? Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints, 8:30 p.m. ET

Where? Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana

Weather? Still a dome. Still no weather. Weather bad.

Fun Fact? We rarely get to play spoiler like this. Ending the Saints undefeated season this far in would be a first-time accomplishment for the Falcons. Just something to chew on.

Injuries? We covered this a bit earlier in the news post, but there's a lot of questionables. Kroy Biermann, John Abraham, Sam Baker, Jason Snelling, Thomas Johnson and Ovie Mughelli are some standout names. I expect most of them to play, because otherwise we're pretty well boned.

The Saints will be missing defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis and possibly linebacker Scott Fujita. Everyone else is probable.

Odds? New Orleans over Atlanta, 12.0, O/U 55.0

Foe? You all know our good friends over at Canal Street Chronicles. Enjoy our friendship now, because we may hate their guts after this game.

GO FALCONS! Let's defrock these Saints!

It's ON ... like

Reporter: How will you address all of the dropped passes?

Mike Smith: I don’t think that we were as sharp as we have been catching the football. It’s something that is very fixable. It’s VERY fixable.

We may disagree about football...

but I can see by your avatar that we do agree about baseball. Long live Bobby Cox!

(OT) Bobby Cox

A year after he retires, people will be clamoring for the “good old days” when he was still Manager. Nice man, too. He used to buy his beer in my store in the early ’80s, I still remember his Yankees ring.

Sedrick Ellis

I’m pumped that he is out. Hopefully we’ll be able to exploit some big runs up the middle.

Keep an eye on

#69, Anthony Hargrove, who has been filling in for Ellis. He has better numbers than Ellis in fewer games, including 2 sacks.

by BayouRebel on Nov 2, 2009 7:51 PM EST up reply actions

Hargrove might be better against the pass

But Ellis has some pounds on him against the run. Could be interesting.

I think penalties and turnovers will be the deciding factor.....

No stupid penalties, and hold on to the ball. The Saints are going to do their best to rip the ball out, every chance they get!

The two deciding factors are pressure from the d-line and road-grading from the o-line. The trenches are the story of the game for the Falcons.

the point is that of our offense doesn’t care enough to show up tonight, it would be kind of silly for me to continue sitting through this massacre. but you can continue being a good fan if you want and watch this beating ensue. i hope you’re right and that they can pull it out, but i don’t see it happening.
