The Future Must be Now!
Mike Smith has seen the future, and it isn't good. The game against New Orleans this week is basically a playoff game. Without a win, we're just playing for fun.
Michael Turner is cooked. Michael Jenkins is a girlyman. The Defensive Secondary is slow and short, and they can't tackle.
And, Matt Ryan doesn't know how to improvise. Tony Romo does. Matt Ryan is really smart, maybe too smart. Seems to be playing strictly by the playbook. Needs to learn to cheat some. Scrambling, pumpfakes, irregular counts. Something, anything.
Tony Gonzalez would have helped us out a lot more during last year's playoff run, but wasn't ready to be traded. Now, if things breakdown, Ryan looks at Tony. Granted the guy is good receiver. But it's not gonna happen this year. So he might play well next year, but he knows he's not the answer to this team's fate.
The bottom line is that Mike Smith needs to shake-up this lineup fast.
Right now, Jason Snelling is better than Michael Turner.
Right now. Eric Weems is better than Michael Jenkins.
Right now. We need a fullback that can block.
Right now we need a quarterback who can improvise.
Right now. We need a defensive back who can tackle. UFL, CFL, what about Brian Finneran for Chrissakes? He'd do it if it meant he could get playing time! Let's go Dimitroff!

Glum, to say the least
But I agree something’s coming down the pipeline. If Jason Snelling gets less than 10 touches next weekend, I’m going to be stunned.

Don't be too impatient
Many of us have waited for a good team since the 1960s. A couple of bad games do not a season make. The team’s under good leadership and heading in the right direction overall.

This is getting to be absurd
Really, stop it, you’re embarrassing yourself. Snelling is not better than Turner, he’s simply taking advantage of better situations. Same as Weems. And Redman, you can’t be serious? At this point, I’m starting to think troll.

Ok how about this
Romo and Ryan have won the same amount of Playoff games, the big 0, nada, not a 1. Romo chokes at the end of almost every season, have you seen his Nov and Dec. record? It’s hard to get into rythme when your being pressured and throwing off your back foot almost all game. When his jersey was keep clean we had 2 70+ yard drives for TDs. Yes our secondary looked bad but ALL secondaries would if the QB had 6 plus seconds to throw the ball every time he drops back. We had no pass rush for basically the whole game. Snelling should have touched the ball more in THIS game, should he see more touches? yes, see if he can handle more and go from there, should he see more touches than Turner in a game? HELL NO!!!! Tuner is our starter and feature back, nough said. I will agree with you on Eric"Dave’s man crush" Weems, he needs to be in for more snaps, lets see what the game can do. Other than that calm down, we’re 4-2 through 6 games. We’ll be ok.

sweet
I love it when people make a point to drag us through the mud when we lose to an inferior opponent. I mean, we know the aints are goona kill us on MNF, but beyond that I think we can play with anyone else on the schedule. We will lose a few more but still have a winning record in the end.

Many thanks.

By the way, I recommend you guys try the wildcat. I worked so well for Miami!

The only reason the Saints won was Drew Brees
The guy rushed, dove, fought for three touchdowns. He is tough as hell. When the passing game got tough, the passer got running.
I love the guy, but Matt Ryan isn’t tough. Without a running game, nobody is tough.
Miami is tough. They just couldn’t beat a better quarterback in Drew Brees.

Are we talking physical toughness, or mental?
Ryan hasn’t missed an offensive snap in his career, has he? That should count for something.

He hasn't even missed a finger snap
I mean, remember Oklahoma?

The Falcons
are pretty much gaurenteed a wildcard, I see us splitting the divisional games with you 1-1, and you’ll have an 11-5 record at the end why all the nay-saying? Stick wit your boys, us Saints fans have had our bad years and now its finally our turn and you guys ALWAYS play us hard (minus that first game back at the Dome after Katrina) will be a fun game good luck and NO INJURIES!!!

Snelling goes down with a hammy!
AJC reports that the Aaron Stecker signing was a result of Snelling’s hamstring injury.
I guess we can forget about the running game for now. Unless they put Eric Weems in at scatback!

What is with the slow comments about the DB's?
They are short yes, but Chevis Jackson ran a 4.39 if I remember correctly, Grimes is faster than that, and Houston is just out of position so much it looks like he slow.

I refer to the Dallas Game
If you saw the game, on a 32 yard reception in the third quarter, after his catch, Miles Austin ran down the left sideline with two DB’s trailing. If not for an extremely fast John Abraham who ran past our DB’s and pushed Austin out of bounds at the Falcon’s 45, Austin would have scored. It was really shocking.
Two things. John Abraham shouldn’t be faster than our DB’s(but he apparently is); and, John Abraham could probably play DB better than the defensive wimps who couldn’t catch Austin. And, thankfully, John Abraham doesn’t quit until the play is dead. He is really a fantastic player. Truly shocking about the DB’s though.
My sister could run over Chevis Jackson, so who cares how fast he is.
The defensive wimps are getting paid good money too, much more than my sister.
I thought the NFL was an organization that hires the best available. Obviously not. It is embarassing really. You could call it indefensible.

You're confusing two plays (and the facts)
The 32 yard reception in the 3Q was the one where Houston got the Illegal Contact penalty, but Austin still caught the ball, so they declined it. He caught it on a corner route, and immediately stepped OOB, since he was right on the sideline.
The play that (I think) you’re talking about was a 27 yard reception at the start of the 4Q on 3rd and 8. Chevis was covering Austin, who was in the slot. Houston was covering a guy on the sidelines (a TE in the flats). Abraham dropped back into coverage, because of another zone blitz from the opposite side. Austin ran a deep curl/hitch/comeback route (he caught it 15 yards downfield), and Chevis slipped as Austin made his cut. Houston had cheated over to help. Abe started running that way when the ball was in the air. When Austin caught the ball, he kept coming back toward the Line of Scrimmage for a couple steps, to evade Houston (yes, he missed the tackle). He didn’t score because he dropped the ball out of bounds, not because Abe caught him & pushed him out. Abe only passed the DB’s because he was already running full speed, and they were either getting off the ground, or moving back toward the Line of Scrimmage. Check the video: the 32 yard catch is @ 2:45, the play in question is @ 3:04.

Thanks for the correction, my error, wrong quarter.
The point is still the same, Abraham would have caught him if he hadn’t dropped the ball. Abraham still plays with a lot of heart and some of our DB’s kinda stink.
If a DB falls down because a WR makes a move, that’s pretty bad.
Coaching needs to be scouring the special teams to see who can do the job better. I guess it’s too late to bring in any player of consequence from somewhere else.

Granted I will give you the fact that our DB's are not playing through the whistle.
Maybe we should have Harvey Dahl chase our DB’s in practice, that should motivate them, I have a mental image of a T-Rex chasing a bunch bunnies.
