A Very Falcoholic Discussion: Improving The Site

Six-million-dollar-man_medium

via www.ugo.com

We can make The Falcoholic better. We have the technology.

What I want to know is what you guys want to see in the months ahead. We have a growing base of commenters here, and I love the participation. I just want to make it as enjoyable as possible for all of my readers.

Consider this the thread to post your suggested improvements. If you like everything on the site already, at least let me know which features are your favorites. If you're too shy to speak up on the site, hit me up at davethefalconer@yahoo.com.With your help, The Falcoholic can continue to grow alongside the team we all obsess over daily.

Go for it!

Honestly

I think you do a great job Dave. Your editorial prowess and commitment to this site are appreciated (at least by me).

I honestly can’t think of anything that needs improvement. I’ll give it some thought though.

BTW, is that James Bonds in the pic?

Thanks!

And yeah, that’s the Six Million Dollar man. I really wanted to use the popular “we can make him better, we have the technology joke.” Success!

Thats the 6 million dollar man

all apologies to Ted Dibiase necessary.

Dave, I enjoy the site. Enjoy pretty much everything. Thanks for what you do.

I appreciate it

And who doesn’t love Ted DiBiase?

More chicks!

As if, right? This is a football blog after all.

The only qualm I have is a user thing. I feel that people should recommend fanposts more often, and not just the ones coming from rival team blogs on game weeks. I want to see a REC usage like that at the Bama SB blog, Roll ’Bama Roll. If people love a fan post, they REC it and it sits atop the list for easy access to commenters.

And maybe a logo change?

You got it

I’ve mentioned the recommend feature a couple times and I’ve noticed it hasn’t stuck yet. I think posting another overview of that feature might be a good idea.

Logo Change

A logo change is about the only thing I can think of. Something a bit more memorable. Something stylistic and flashy.

I've grown attached to it

But I can always talk to our terrific behind the scenes folks.

The Site is excellent.

Maybe the Angry Rant section can use an update. I could understand there was no need to rant especially after last season. A seating map of the Dome would add a nice touch.

I'll work on the seating chart

I just haven’t had much to rant about lately, but I’m sure I can find some draft pundits to go off on as we get closer. Good rage takes time.

Some sort of occasional social event

Maybe during the season or something. Nothing huge, just maybe catching the game at a sports bar or something. I know that not everyone is in the ATL area, but maybe next season if there are enough of us we can plan something?

I have gone to training camp each of the past three years so maybe an official Falcoholic trip to camp would be neat.

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.

I'll be (hopefully) moving to the ATL soon.

I’m actually planning a tour of the Dome soon. Some of us should get together, revel in the Dome, and get some lunch somewhere.

I would love to do it

If/when I get down to the Dome in the next season or so, I’ll try to give you guys as much notice as possible. It’d be pretty great to meet up and pound a few beers.

Something I thought of the other day...

Maybe this is something you’ve tried before and it doesn’t work for some reason, but I wondered if maybe next year we could have a Falcoholic open thread for the playoff games – even if the Falcons have been knocked out already.

For example, this year I know Dave and several others are rooting for the Cardinals, but I and some of the more vengeful Falcoholics have been hoping they’d fail at every opportunity. If we had had an open thread e.g. during Cardinals v Eagles, it might have been fun to indulge in a bit of friendly internecine trash-talking between the two camps…

I’d suggest a Superbowl open thread on Sunday, but I’m hosting a Superbowl party so I wouldn’t be able to join in… Go Steelers!

I tried it last year

And nobody really showed much interest. Of course, there’s a lot more traffic this year, so it’s something I should have done.

I will have a Super Bowl open thread, though. Sorry you won’t be there, but enjoy the party.

MOBILE!

For the love of God fix the mobile version!

Comment posting, better formatting.

Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish — a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow — to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested...Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll.

Working on it

You’ve been fighting this crusade for a while, so it’ll be a happy day when I can announce that change.

I believe

Something to do with videos and stuff but I think there are copyright infringments.

Perhaps maybe having a sideline reporter? Someone who can be at the game to write from a fan’s perspective.

I don’t know just throwing stuff out there.

I love that idea

Before the next season, let’s get one or more of you who go to the Dome to give your thoughts. Dave over at Canal Street Chronicles does something similar and it works very well.

I've really come to enjoy this site...

The one thing that irks me is to make a fan post it has to be 250 words or so (I forget the actual number). Fan Shots tend to get lost because you have to scroll down. You might think about combining those. I’m sure there are alot of fan shots that duplicate fan posts.

On a completely unrelated note, maybe its me but the default icon for all SB members looks a lot like an Obama tee shirt. Any one else see theresemblance?

Countdown(s)

One until next season. Maybe another until the draft. Whatchathank Dave?

I second this idea.

Even if looking at the countdown right now would depress me. I’m totally football-less. I might even have to watch the Pro Bowl…ugh…just so I can get my fix.
