Possible Falcon Draftee: Greg Hardy
It might mean finding a trade partner for our excess linemen, but if this guy falls into our grasp it's going to be very tempting to try to get him. Very few guys this athletic and this driven to kill the quarterback fall out of the Top 10, but he is coming off an injury.

Trade partner for who/what?
What D-Linemen (besides Abe and Babs – neither of whom are going anywhere) on our squad would anybody want? Even for a seventh round pick. Heck, even for a pack of ketchup and the five or six french fries rolling around in my car.

I think there are teams out there
Who would still take a shot at Jamaal Anderson. I’m not saying he can’t be a decent player in the league, but it’s also clear that he’s been substantially outplayed by Chauncey Davis two years running. I think some team would be willing to take a shot at him, though I agree that it’s not likely to be more than a mid-to-late round pick with some conditions attached.

Maybe
But he’s the only one. But I guess that might have been your point in the first place, huh? IMO, we’d be lucky to get a six (at best) or seventh round pick. The Redskins only needed to give up a 7th round pick to get Erasmus James and he showed a lot more potential than Anderson has (at least initially).

I'm still not giving up on Anderson
Yes, I will admit that he doesn’t get nearly enough pressure off the edge to be an effective defensive end. However, he is damn good against the run. On some downs this season, he moved to the inside and Davis or Biermann came in at end. I would make that change permanent. I don’t think its a coincidence that our run D went downhill after he got injured in week 16. I think he could be quite the asset if he bulked up a little bit and became a full time defensive tackle.

Agreed
Let him put on thirty pounds and make him the 3rd down DT.

How polished?
is this guy considered? The knock on Anderson when we drafted him was that he hadn’t played the position long and didnt have the nuances down. Well, here we are 2 yrs later and not a sack yet where he just beat his man and put a pass rush on him to get to the qb…
so i wonder how ready he is… hes a junior?

Here's a brief ESPN article
His bread and butter is the pass rush, which I believe is very high on a number of priority lists around here. The mere possibility that he may fall because of injury makes him tempting.

I'm w/ ya
But not unless he drops to the second round, which it looks (right now) that he will. He’s not worth a first-round pick for us right now IMO. We have bigger priorities along the D-Line. Not to keep citing the same example, but ERASMUS JAMES! Vikings ignored his injury problems, drafted him in the first round and where is he now? Flipping burgers, that’s where he is. OK, maybe not. But he isn’t in the league, and he’s only 26/27ish (I think).

There are busts all over FW
How serious is his injury? temporary? Long history?
My point is its too early to declare him injury prone. Btw, Jimmy Williams is prolly flipping burgers too…

Excellent Point
I guess I shouldn’t have gone on so long about E James, as that obviously made the point of my original post less clear. My bad.
My point was that the Falcons will go after a DE in the first round. I’d be willing to bet money on it. DE is a concern, but not nearly as big of a concern as DT. So … if it’ll take our first round pick, I am opposed to drafting Greg. His injury is a secondary concern. We can agree to disagree about how to evaluate players w/ injury issues, but that wasn’t supposed to be the main point of my post. Sorry … oh, by the way, we drafted Jimmy Williams in the 2nd round. Just a heads up.

"the Falcons will go after a DE" should read "the Falcons will go after a DT"
