Grading the Rookie Receivers of 2008 - and their fantasy impact

Anyone who has played fantasy football knows that drafting rookies and expecting a fantasy impact in their first year is a hit or miss proposition.  The 2008 season was no different than any other with rookie wide receivers, who are known to have a bigger impact in their second or third year - and that theory held true again in 2008.

The Fantasy Sports Forum grades the top rookie wide receivers from 2008, with the round and overall position on where they were drafted.  Each player received a grade based on their fantasy impact.  The players are listed in the order of where they were picked in the NFL Draft.

Star-divide

Harry Douglas, Falcons: 3/84
Showed some nice potential in two games this season.  In week six against Chicago, Douglas caught five balls for 96 yards and in week 11 against Carolina, he had four receptions for 92 yards.  For the season, the speedy rookie tallied 320 yards and two TDs (one rushing).  Has the potential to be a solid number three option for Atlanta.
Grade: C+

I remember telling Dave during the Carolina game

that Douglas’ fantasy stock would be increased. I guess this proves it?

I really like Douglas

He took his hits this year. Ran w/ the big boys. I’ll admit, his size was a concern. But I guess I knew after his little tussle w/ Milloy that he was the real deal. I swear to god, if we draft another WR before the 4th round, I’ll throw the biggest fit in recorded history. Scary, I know …

It's not real likely

The staff seems comfortable with White, Jenkins, Douglas and B-Finn, so anyone they pick up would probably be a later-round project.

Douglas should do some very good things for us next year. I’m hoping Mike Smith finds more ways to get the ball into his hands.

I think taking this guy in the third was a great pick!!

He out performed six receivers that were taken ahead of him in the draft. And that was with a “rookie” QB. I can’t wait till next year!!!
