Did Chris Miller throw a TD on his first pass, too?
I don't even remember when Chris Miller played, (in the late 80s, maybe) but I distinctly seem to recall that he made his debut against the Lions, and where I was at the time, and the fact that he lit up the Lions in very short order.
Couldn't really tell you who won the game, but it was a running joke amongst me and some of my friends who were watching that day, talking about Miller, and how he fooled everyone by looking so good in his debut, because people forgot that it came against the Lions.
What I can't find with a few minutes of googling, though, is whether Miller threw a TD pass on his first attempt, or on his first drive at the helm of the Falcons.
Thought I'd throw it out to you guys, see if anyone remembers the start of the Chris Miller era...

Doesn't look like it
Miller started 2 of the 3 games he played in 1987. Detroit was the last game of that season, though, so the one TD he threw that year (against Detroit) couldn’t have been on his first drive, or first attempt. Here’s a limited box score:

P-F-R is a great website for stuff like this.
Hope I didn’t spoil any pleasant memories…
Go Falcons!

you snuck in while I wasn't looking
found the same info, and wrote it up, just below, and then I scrolled up, and, as Madden might say, BOOM!
Now I’m thinking I oughta contact the Michigan athletic department and see if my cherished childhood Jim Abbott memories have any basis in fact :)

never mind
A couple more minutes of googling, and I found the incredible

Apparently, Miller started his first game on December 20, 1987, against the 49ers, and his second game against the Lions, the next week. I must be recalling this particular play….

One of my fave sites. I remember a couple years back I was trying to think of a cool birthday present for a friend so I bought the sponsorship on the page of his favorite team from the year he was born with a special message to him.

Great gift idea, but...
…Mom wasn’t at all impressed when I sponsored a page in her name for Mother’s Day.

I'm just glad...
….that I don’t have any friends who are Tampa Bay fans born in 1976. They would hate me.

Speaking of the goodness of ProFootballResource...
I just discovered that with 220 yards, Michael Turner is now 48th on the Falcons’ all-time rushing list.
Top 50.
After one game.
For a team that has just started its 43rd season.
If that doesn’t explain why we are so hungry after all these years, nothing will.
Please let this thing last a little longer, because I’m not used to feeling like this on a Sunday afternoon.

Yeah
It definitely makes supper a much more pleasurable experience for the wife and kids. Most sunday afternoons I am angry and ill-tempered after watching the Falcons screw the pooch, especially last year.

Think you're right
Are you referring to the inaugural preseason game vs. Philadelphia on 8/23/1992?
I remember the first play from scrimmage being a TD pass, but don’t remember who the QB was. Miller was the starter that year.
