Falcons Acquire CB Domonique Foxworth From Broncos
Here's a link --
The Falcons gave up a 7th Round pick for Foxworth, which would become a 6th rounder if he resigns with the team. Foxworth had seen his value with the Broncos plummet this training camp and was likely to be the 4th or 5th DB in Denver defense. He wants to be a starter. It will be interesting to see if he gets that wish in Atlanta and what he does with it....

Thanks Guru
I think considering what they gave up, the Falcons made out pretty well here.

I agree
So he fell down the depth chart as of late. I read one article that mentioned he was (and is still) pretty shaken up by the shooting death of Darrent Williams as they were pretty close. I think all parties here made out pretty well. The Broncs got rid of some baggage, Foxworth gets a chance to start fresh and the Falcons got a decent player for only a 7th round or at worst a 6th round pick.

I agree with both...
You are right. Foxy was a spearhead behind the Darrent Williams Teen Center and the two were close. I don’t think it had much to do with his play on the field, however. That said, he is still 100% class and I can’t say anything bad about the guy. It just remains to be seen if D-Fox is as good as D-Fox thinks he is….

Nice
That’s a heck of an endorsement coming from you Guru. I am excited about this pickup!

By the gods
I thought you’d gone to the big blog in the sky.
And I dunno if he’s still capable of playing safety. What thinks Guru?

I love it
He is still young and has loads more potential than a 7th round pick, I love the pick-up. Hopefully Foxworth can come into himself this season with us and become an impact in the secondary in the future.

This is strange..
Weirdest thing when I got an email about this…because the odd thing is that in my Madden franchise in Madden 08 in my second season I picked up Foxworth for the Birds in the second season. Must mean that Thomas Dimitroff and I think a like.

Potential, slightly ...
… toasted. At least during this preseason, Foxworth spent the first two games letting everything get completed in front of him and the last game watching a WR go by him for a touchdown. But he should at least be able to compete to be our nickel back, so a very good deal for the Falcons.
Fudge could be the bigger contributor this year. Our special teams (like pretty much everything else) sucked last year, so I like the idea of loading up special teams to try to win the field position battle consistently. Just remember that in a 4-win season, we gave up two wins early in the year because we couldn’t make a couple field goals.
I’m just saying…

sounds good
the talent at a 6th or 7th is nowhere near where foxworth’s talent level is at so, seems like a pretty safe gamble.

Hmm
Was it worth letting Stone go for this though? Keep Stone around and let him learn and grow into a better NFL player or lose a draft pick for a guy who may or may not be able to get over his past and mental blocks? I guess in a way it’s somewhat of a toss-up but personally I would have rather kept Stone and the draft pick.
