Falcons Go Lofty For Lofton
It appears our starting middle linebacker of the future--and maybe present--has finally been signed in time for training camp. I'm excited to see the Curtis Lofton era begin, and I'm hoping this proves to be the toppling point for OT Sam Baker. If we can get everyone in in time for camp, it'd be both a minor miracle and a terrific start to the new regime.
I'm heading to a cookout with a case of Sapporo, so feel free to use this as a camp open thread and talk Lofton. Catch you cats later!

Let's get Sam now...
Glad to hear Lofton is in because the MIKE position needs a good amount of learning, of course so does LT. We need to get Baker in now.

That would be a good decision.
I still hold to my original opinion that we should have never released him to begin with, but hey, if we can re-sign him for less money and for one year at a time, then all the better. In my opinion he was a great run stuffing DT and we all know we need more depth on that side of the ball so I don’t see this as being a bad thing.
Back to the main topic, kudos to management for getting the Lofton deal done so that he can be in training camp on time. Lofton is obviously a major piece in the Falcons plan for the future so getting this deal done is a major plus.
And as always, the sooner we get our picks signed and into the camp the better all around it is for everyone. Baker has to know his options are limited so I wonder what the hold up is.
