Joe Horn wants to play elsewhere
According to the AJC , Horn would rather not stay in Atlanta if he's not going to be a starter. Like everyone else, he acknowledges that White and Robinson are ahead of all other WRs on the depth chart. Too bad. He has shown work ethic and leadership, and has a little gas left in the tank.
If Finneran can't contribute, are the Falcons suddenly thin at WR? Other than Jenkins and Jennings (6 catches), they have no WRs with any experience.
We all hope that Douglas can help out immediately, but that's unlikely, isn't it?

Given Horn's declining performance
We might actually be stronger if he goes elsewhere. Talent-wise, he’s probably no better than our fourth best receiver and would have potentially blocked Douglas or Jenkins if he had stayed on the team. I think the team should see what they can get for him.

Given his 9.0 yards per catch...
I will gladly hand him his hat.
I really thought he would at least contribute in the locker room. Oh well. Good riddance.

Locker Room Influence
I understand the reasons for wanting him gone, but last year it was his work ethic and influence that contributed to the growth of White. Say we do get rid of him then there is no real veteren leadership at WR. I mean who, Finneren? Hasn’t played in two years. I agree that if Horn wants out then get let him go, but i also would support picking up a player with that dedication and leadership to help keep White, Robinson, and Douglas on the right track.
The Falcons should sign Chuck Norris.

I Concur
Anyone think we could get anything in return for Horn?
Maybe a 4th or 5th round pick?

With patience, perhaps
At this point in time, Horn probably isn’t too marketable. Maybe that will change when other teams get banged up in camp & preseason, and find themselves in need of a viable reserve player.
I doubt there are any teams out there that would look at Horn as starting material, though. Anything we could get in exchange is better than nothing, even if it’s a very low round draft choice.

Maybe a bag of rocks
I hate to say it, but I don’t know that any team out there would even want to give up a 6th round pick for Joe. I concur with Slick, the guy just has no market value at all. Sure he might have had some influence on the dev. of the younger WR’s, but at the same time he himself couldn’t even separate himself from these guys. Can anyone name one big play he was responsible for? I don’t even know how much of an influence he was on the younger players honestly. I mean I guess I just had such high expectations for him coming in especially after attending a day of training camp last year.
Teams trade for talent and 22 catches averaging less than 10 yards per and 1 touchdown means he is borderline worthless in trade value. On the other hand I do think if he is released he will have no trouble finding a team to latch onto.

Nothing above a 6th
They should try to trade him to the Raiders. Al Davis is insane now, so he might overpay for WR whose best days are behind him (see Javon Walker). But, I don’t see anyone giving more than a 6th round pick for a player that you’re likely to cut before the season starts.

Classy Dude
Alright, so my comments about his playing are a little harsh, but I will say this. the guy is a class act.

Let him go ASAP
Whatever positive effect Joe has had on the young wide recievers, he can have an equally negative effect if he is left buried on the depth chart. Considering the clubs desire to free up cap space, and the impending signings of our plethora of rookies, I think we can confidently estimate that Joe will be gone before training camp

Slow Down Guys
What if Roddy or L. Rob get injured?
Jenkins failed to impress and Finneran probably won’t make the team.
This team needs veteran leadership and even if Horn has lost a step, he’s still as good or better than all the other available WRs.
Who are we going replace Horn with…Marcus Robinson???
