Erik Coleman Hurt, Thomas DeCoud Could Start For Falcons
While I like Thomas DeCoud a lot, throwing him into the starting lineup against one of the league's most potent passing attacks represents a very steep learning curve indeed. Erik Coleman seems pretty likely to miss the game or at least be limited, so we're likely to see quite a bit of young DeCoud.
With the way the rest of this draft class has played so far, I can't hate on DeCoud until I see him on the field. I wish him enormous success against Billy Miller, Jeremy Shockey and the rest of the merry tight ends corp, and hope (and expect) that the coaching staff will help him out as much as possible.
It'd be great if he could step in and get a couple picks right away, eh? Thoughts?

Thomas DeCoud
was a highly ranked S in a weak safety class last year. Let see what he can do. Supposedly he was known for laying the business on folks at Cal. He has been good on STs so the quickness, agility is there…
Everything else has rolled TD and MS way, so why not DeCoud?

Ehhhh
I was worried about this when Coleman went down last week. I know Shockey hasn’t been the threat the Saints would have liked, but I would expect for Michael Boley to be all over him all game long in order to help out Decoud.

If DeCoud starts
he’ll undoubtedly get picked on more than Ralph Wiggum’s nose.

False alarm!
Coleman will play. It wouldn’t surprise me to see DeCoud spelling him from time to time, but its good to know he’ll be out there.

Baptism by fire
I wouldn’t mind seeing DeCoud get a good # of reps in this meaningful contest (unless he gets buttered up and toasted). Our safety tandem of Milloy and Coleman (which I beleived would be average at best before the season) has been very good if not great. Being a displaced Falcons fan by way of new york, I was familiar with coleman (he actually lived in one of the buildings my company built) and expected him to be average, or slightly below average. In my opinion he has been awesome. I don’t see Lawyer being able to continue to play at such a high level for much longer due to age, and it would be nice to see how Thomas does in such a pivotal game.
