Around SBN: Odds On Peyton Manning's Next Home Includes Three Teams

Talk About Everything Falling Into Place!!

In one week we get the win we need and losses of both Dallas and Tampa Bay and we make the playoffs. And to top it all off the Giants beat Carolina so if the Birds win next week and Carolina loses we get a first fround bye.

I am glad we are in the playoffs but it would be pretty amazing if we were able to sneak in that division title and a first round bye on the last day of the season.

Even though Dave has a rule against this

I’m rooting for the Saints.

But man, that Carolina/NYG game was something. Ugly too. Both defenses could barely manage. It just boiled down to the team that last had the ball. Derrick Ward certainly earned his paycheck there on that last OT drive.

Also,

it seems as a lot of teams are skidding near the end of the stretch here. The Falcons have been pretty consistent all season long. Arizona’s falling off the map (we’d face them in Wild Card if playoffs started today), Jets are stalling, Dallas is shooting themselves in the foot. What gives? Why can’t these teams stay consistent? The Falcons have been doing the same stuff all year: Run with Turner, let Ryan strut, make the other team beat us with their weak game. We’ve gotten to 10-5 doing that.

Can’t really believe it either but we have to be Saints fans, a bye and more importantly a HOME PLAYOFF GAME would be following if next Sunday is as magical as yesterday was. We have kicked ass at home this year with the lone exception of that Denver shenanigans, which we could/should have won anyway. A home playoff game for us would make it very tough on whoever has to come in and play us. Go saints.

first to last

its the rule.

im really wouldnt mind playing Arizona as 5 of their 8 wins have been against division rivals, who are terrible. But to get a first round bye and #2 seed, would be the greatest season by a sporting team i have ever supported.

go hard or go home

So . . .

Let me understand this . . .

If the Falcons beat the Rams, and the Saints beat the Panthers, then the Falcons are the #2 seed?

by Mustard on Dec 22, 2008 8:57 AM EST reply actions

Yes.

And they get a bye.

Yes

That’s how they can still get the two seed. If Carolina and Atlanta both win, Atlanta goes to Glendale to play Arizona. If Atlanta loses, we will play the winner of the NFC North.

Regardless if it's Arizona or NFC North

I don’t think our Birds will have trouble with their first playoff match. It’s the second (and who knows, third) games that worry me.

I don't know about that

I really don’t want Minnesota again, and Chicago in January isn’t exactly a picnic. Even Arizona, with Boldin and Fitzgerald, worry me somewhat. Still, if we have a first round game, I want the Cardinals.

by SG Standard on Dec 22, 2008 10:11 AM EST up reply actions

Chicago or Giants in January

Good thing is that we now have a QB who is (A) a field general and (B) cut from cold, New England cloth. I don’t think you’ll see Ryan feeling sorry for his cold bones on the bench while locked in a physical struggle to get to the big game.

Still, home is clearly the place to be.

Let's not get greedy!

We got lucky in 3 different games Sunday. A division title sounds like Oliver Twist asking for more gruel.

statistically speaking

NO should be able to pull a win – either way, it will be a close game, I honestly don’t think that is asking for too much.

Atlanta did get painfully lucky against the Vikings. I remember telling my buddy that another turnover was too much to ask for the play before Jackson missed the snap and lost the ball 20 yards down the field…. we won that game because the Vikings messed up (more like Peterson messed up). That was what was too much to ask for.

It’s football though… you can never stop asking

Oh, I'll take it

But when it comes to EXPECTING it, that crosses into the realm of being unrealistic IMO. I could have chosen my words better.

If the Vikings could play so wretchedly with a division title in their laps, so can the Panthers I guess.

what makes this team so great to watch

is I can’t say that I’ve EXPECTED a win all season… dating all the way back to our games against the Lions and the Raiders before we knew what the Atlanta Falcons were capable of with this years turn around, all I could do was HOPE for a win

Hoping has got me this far

Expectations make for sour fans – that’s why I can’t stand a Cowboys fan

Before the Tampa Bay game

i made a joking comment that i wanted to see us go on a 7 game winning streak. Well there are 2 of them. Rams next week make 3. Guess where all 7 would take us.

let's hear it

for dreaming big and hoping for the best

I’m just rediculously happy because win or lose, making the playoffs means one thing for me

I get to watch one game in America this season with a nice cold beer after a long 15 month tour in Iraq – I fly home on the 1st. Thank you Falcons for making this season just long enough that I get to enjoy football in the most traditional way :)

(5 more wins sure would be nice though – being the proud fan of a Rookie MVP is on the list of hopes too)

Damn man

You fuc$ing deserve it. Thank you so much for your service homie. If we win the SB and they make a documentary about this season … I hope they interview some fans like yaself.
