Falcons TV programming alert

Star-divide

Friday night (the 19th) at 9:00 ET on NFL Network, they're showing the 1999 NFC Championship Game between the Falcons and the Vikings.  (Replay at 2:30 am ET)  Run time is 3.5 hours so apparently it's not a highlight film, it's the whole game.  I've never seen the whole thing replayed before.  DOWN, you goosebumps!

For those of you who weren't fortunate enough to see it ten years ago, do yourselves a favor and watch or record it.  This was unquestionably the most significant postseason win in Falcons history, and one of the most exciting games you'll ever see.  Our comeback was absolutely amazing, literally one for the ages.  Chris Chandler may not have been the best QB that ever played, but on that day he, and the whole team, truly had the heart of a lion.

Sorry for the short notice.  Enjoy, Falcons fans!

I would love to

Watch it but NFL Network isn’t in Australia =]

One day, perhaps!

ESPN occasionally broadcasts a 90 minute highlights version as part of the “NFL’s Greatest Games” series, it’s good watchin’ too. I’ll give a heads up if I notice it coming up.

I've got the whole thing Tivoed

from when they showed it on NFL network last February as their “best games of all time” series. The only thing they cut in that version was halftime. After the second quarter, it jumps to the start of the third.

oh man

i wish i can watch that, but i cant afford the network. I have to cough up $200 to comcast for those bloated sports packages. It includes the Network, but i cant pay that much just to watch only 1 team

Love NFLN

I love watching those classic games on NFLN. I have some serious love for that channel. It’s the main reason I have only watched ESPN for a grand total of maybe 45 minutes combined in the last 3 or so years. Not only is it 24/7 NFL, but it’s actually done really well!

The funniest is once on the anniversery of the Heidi Bowl they interrupted what the were broadcasting and proceeded to show Heidi in it’s entirety.

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.

The Heidi Bowl, as it happened?

Wow, they’ve really got a sense of humor at NFL Network! That’s perhaps as impressive as the high production values.

Ha, not EXACTLY

They actually were showing their regularly scheduled program, then it went dark then the ticker on the bottom read something to the effect of “On this day in 1968 at exactly this time…….” then they went to Heidi. It wasn’t the game itself.

Still, pretty cool

Love that self-effacing humor. The world would be a better place if some people didn’t take themselves so seriously.

The Dirty Bird

So I was just watching the 1998 Championship game laying on the couch with my 4 year old son. We just saw Jamal Anderson score and do the dirty bird. My son says “WHAT is THAT guy doing?”. I told him it was the Dirty Bird.

He immediately jumped off the couch and started doing his own version. I just brought him up to bed but he wouldn’t let me tuck him in until he was allowed to show his Mommy the Dirty Bird.

“MOMMY!!!! LOOK AT DIRTY BIRD DANCE!!!!!”

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.

Enjoying the replay myself

albeit without the heartwarming moments! Where do they get the energy?

The memories are flooding back. This beats the hell out of a highlight film.

By far, the most classic Falcons game...

well, I dunno. That win against Chicago was pretty dang amazing.

Officially My Most Memorable Falcons Game

I don’t know if anyone read my last post on the Laying Low thread, but this game is like a gift that keeps giving. I can honestly say that my son doing the Dirty Bird on his own is a memory I will treasure as long as I live. Memorable game for so many reasons!

how about 10 years later

we still rally a win against the Vikings

and fall short of a win to Denver

Irony?

Or just another great season in the making
