Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Bucs Open Thread
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons, Dec 14, 2008 1:00 PM EST
Come one, come all, for the greatest show on turf this weekend! Marvel as two divisional rivals still in the playoff race square off, with the meddlesome Bucs lining up for their comeuppance against the beloved Falcons. You won't find a better game to watch, especially if the Bucs get their butts kicked up and down the Georgia Dome.
Without further ado, let's follow along after the jump!
Who? Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Bucs, 1 p.m. ET
Where? Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Georgia
Weather? Steely with a chance of beams.
Fun Fact? According to ESPN, Jeff Garcia is going to throw 1.5 touchdowns on Sunday. I guess this means he'll be kicking field goals, too.
Injuries? WR Laurent Robinson is again doubtful, leading me to wonder if health = L-Rob : Pacman Jones = staying out of trouble. A long list of questionables again this week from the Official Site.
The Bucs have a shorter list of questionables, but man. Questionable looks like the new black this season.
Odds? Atlanta over Tampa Bay 3.0, Over/Under 44.5
Foe? The dastardly crew of Buc 'Em, who maintain our network's fine Bucs blog. Be sure to visit there for the latest in Buckin' insight and to politely curse out the team they love.
GO FALCONS! Let's commandeer a win from these Bucs!

Nice hole
for turner on the first run.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

Why did I think this game was at 4?
Good thing I flipped over.
Anyway, starting a drive in Tampa territory = sweeeet.
What's going on fellas?
Just got back from running some Sunday Christmas errands.

Ugh
That red zone TD stat is an ugly one. One of my few complaints this season.
http://hobnailboot.blogspot.com/
And another field goal instead of 7
Argh. You lose games kicking field goals from the 10 yard line.
http://hobnailboot.blogspot.com/
good
but much better if we can get a TD on this drive.

Typically
I think Finn is back for kicks that aren’t really return situations (i.e. the ball is going to land inside the 20) because he has the better hands. They want him back there to ensure no muffs on a punt. Douglas comes in for kicks expected to be returned because he has the ability to make something happen.
http://hobnailboot.blogspot.com/
not sure. but it seems they put finn in when they just want to ensure a non-muff catch. douglas when they want a return.

Talib
Ryan’s been steadily increasing his interception count these past few weeks. Hard to blame him when he’s throwing that far downfield, I guess.
Nice to have a lead
but this could be going a lot better the way Tampa’s hurting themselves.
“Never hit a man when he’s down. Kick him, it’s easier.”
You've got to be kidding me

Emmitt Smith

turner well on his way to another good game
we need to get the running game going good and strong
We need some pass coverage
My kingdom for it, blah blah blah. More pressure on Griese and some competent cornerbacking would go a long way today.
Teams have had quick-strike capability
against us way too much this year. DE and DB have got to be our biggest draft needs next year.
Let's get after them here
Abraham needs to dial up that pass rush this half.

Not to be a wet blanket, but I hope they’re not overusing him. He’s never played a full season and here he is leading the league in carries.
Since I retired I do worry obsessively, having little else to do…
it was close. but, is ryan underestimating the speed of the receivers? just looked a little under thrown again.

It looked well within Jenkins’s reach to me, the CBs arm just blocked him from reaching. That’s what I saw anyway…
Woah
Did Bryant just get in Smitty’s face?
He better watch himself. I feel like Smitty could give him a jolly good box to the ear.
