What I Learned: ATL @ SD
The Football Gods shine down on our Birds.
via static.nfl.com
No bowling or bars this weekend. Listened to Wes Durham call this one in the comfort of my computer chair even if I frequently fell out of it. I do believe the storm cloud of curses that came out of my mouth will fly north and frighten some poor Canadian a week from now. I promise I won’t mention Mike Carey but once.

- Mike Carey is (sorry iRonin) a terrible, terrible “gizflimming” referee. Please, for Rozelle’s sake, look into this Goodell!
- Michael Turner’s chip, if ever there at all, is gone now. 120 yards to LT’s 24. Thanks San Diego.
- Babineaux likes money. That’s the only reason I have for his 1.5 (2?) sacks.
- Matt Ryan has to be an alien. When a rookie goes for 17-23 and 207 yards with two TDs, people take notice. Ryan’s doing it every week. It’s just a shame that Roddy White, once again, had some key drops…then again…
- Roddy got over 112 yards today. Give him a mention, analysts.
- Brian Finneran is in danger. And by danger, I mean real “will be eventually cut” danger.
- Harry Douglas is not Adam Jennings. Don’t let the punt fumble fool you.
- We will not end this season with a losing record. 8 and 4 with a visit from the lowly Rams coming late December. At worst, we’ll finish 9 and 7. Bask in the glow of that, fans.
Hey, it wasn’t pretty (you can blame “you know who” if you want) but it was a win. We completely dominated the Chargers in production and yards gained. This is a very, very good sign for the road games to come. Saints Round 2 coming up. GO FALCONS!

Man
That’s a fantastic shot. Wow.
Mike Carey’s Moustache is a terrible influence on Mike Carey. That’s what I think. The guy is clearly very into his job, so I think he just came under the spell of that wicked ‘stache. But then again, who wouldn’t?
And yes, Matt Ryan is an alien. From the planet Awesome in the Kick Ass Galaxy.
And you’re right: people shouldn’t worry about HD. He got a slight case of the Jennings, but he shook it off. He’s a rookie and it’s a rookie mistake.
To continue your basking invitation, consider this: What would you have said to the person who, this time last year, told you, “Next year, you will not have a losing record. In fact, you’ll likely have a winning record. And a rock solid, rookie QB. And one of the league’s best rushers. And no more Adam Jennings.”

I would've said
nothing, and just laughed in their face for being blissfully unaware. I had no clue how Blank was going to right the ship.
Very glad I was wrong.

"Not to mention...
“Alge, Warrick and D Hall will all be gone, the O-Line will give up the 5th-fewest sacks in the NFL, Roddy White will lead the NFL in receiving yards, and you’ll be led by a coach and general manager you’ve never heard of.”
If those things were told to me by someone exactly one year ago, I would have highly recommended that individual seek professional help for his drug problem and obvious detachment from reality.

Has this been ’shoped?
Is there an original? Maybe in a nice 1280×800 size…
We’ve heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true.

Not 'shopped.
Pulled directly from NFL.com’s gamecenter Photo gallery for the game. Whoever took it needs a medal. And unfortunately, the only large size will be owned by Getty and will cost you 200+ dollars as a “wallpaper” charge.

Hell,
I’d almost be willing to pay it if I could get it printed up large and framed.

That'd cost even more, I'm sure.
A large print for private use is over $400 if I’m not mistaken. Getty hasn’t heard of price parity, I’m afraid.

Wow
The lack of poster use would probably make this a dealbreaker. Paying $70 for desktop wallpaper is pretty extreme. I wonder if there’s a student use discount. :-P

Posted by Falcoholic johnnybacardi here a couple of months ago. I would do unspeakable things to get a printable copy of this. Cheers!

What I learned...
…The Falcons are 3-1 against the AFC West. Too bad we only get to play them once.

Ah
But we’re 3-0 against NFC North opponents and if the playoffs started today we’d get to play them again :-)

What we've all learned
is that the Falcons have developed into a team that is not only capable of winning games, but that they are capable of continuing to win games. If not enough to get us to the playoffs this season, then enough to get us into the playoffs in seasons to come.
It sure would be nice to continue the NFC South trend to go from worst to first this year just to spend next year destroying that trend with a back to back division title. …. I mean…. I’m just saying.
