Crumpler Jersey: don it or not.

Sup falcoholics,

I'm going to need your honest opionion for this one. A friend of mine who lives in Augusta hopes to go to a Falcons game someday. He would really like to wear the only  jersey he has to a game. The problem is that it's Algernon's. He's been a Falcons fan for like 20 years and Alge's his all time favorite player. So much that he bought an authentic one ($250!!!). He asked for what I thought on it and I said he could. I know that the Great 08' Roster Cleansing made some of the commonly worn jerseys (the 21's, 28's, 83's) feel a little old, especially for these times, but I think Alge in my heart will always be a Falcon, even if he wins a ring with the Titans. Do you believe that he could show up in the Dome with a Crumpler jersey on or not? Hypothetically Warrick's? (screw #21)

I think he can go for it

Alge left on good terms and he’s still a part of Falcons’ lore. I’d fully support anyone wearing an Alge jersey if that’s what they’ve got.

No problem

Just because he’s not a Falcon any more doesn’t mean he’s a pariah or anything. He was just a veteran casualty of rebuilding, as was the sainted Dunn. Big deal if the jersey’s dated, he was among the best and most beloved Falcons TEs ever.

Go For It

My buddy still rocks a Tim Dwight jersey. Alge didn’t screw over the Falcons or anything. He was on the team that went to the NFC Championship game, he played hard while he was here, was pretty much a good dude in the community and didn’t get into any trouble…Alge’s cool.

Do it

I happen to own about 21 jerseys and my Warrick Dunn “replithentic” is among my faves. I say you go for it. I do think that Alge will always have the heart of a Falcon!

Funny thing about my collection, I always try to go for totally random/odd jerseys that no one would ever dare wear for fear of ridicule. Some highlights include:

- Tom Tupa #7 Jets
- Martin Gramatica #7 Bucs
- Vinnie Testeverde #16 Cowboys
- Jeff Garcia #5 Browns
- 5 various XFL jersey’s

Basically if I am ever at a thrift store or a discount store I look for them. The grand total spent on ALL of the jersey’s listed above?

About $42 spent over the last 5 years. Yes, I am weird.

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.

Crumpler was awesome and will always be a highlight of the Falcons' past.

If people still wear Tuggle and Dwight jerseys, he should be fine.

if i were him

- Dunn, yes/no – depends on how i felt. lets face it he is slowly becoming to ‘buccy’ for most of us

- Hall, burn – just like my vick shirt and replace it with a Foxworth, because he is the don CB

- Crumpler, wear with pride – he is still at heart a Falcon and was with us for so long compared to the year with the Titans.

go hard or go home

I disagree

I don’t care how good you are/how long you’ve been in the league, calling out your coach (even if it’s Bobby P) publicly is wrong. I lost a lot of respect for him last season. I’d leave it in the drawer for a bit … let the wounds heal.

Normally, I'd agree with you

but Petrino was such an extreme scumbag of a coach, that I’d give Crump a pass on that one.

He treated his players like dirt, not men, which is bad enough. The biggest black mark on Petrino is the way he left the team. Hours after he tells Blank-to his face-that he’s staying, he bolts without even talking to his players. He had zero loyalty for his employer or players, only looking out for himself (as was his history when we hired him). Professional head coaches just don’t do that.

Those aren’t the actions of a man, in my eyes. That worthless sack of crap earned no respect and deserves even less. Nowadays, I root against Arkansas just for him!

Enough ‘happy talk’. Cheers!

I say go for it

Unlike a Vick jersey it doesn’t have the same bad conotations, and I am a big fan of the old school jersey. I have been known to don a Stacey Augmon Hawks jersey a time or 2.
