What I Learned: ATL vs CAR
Chauncey Davis gets Abe's lunch money back from Delhomme.

This game has cost me a bowling partner. My friend Eugene is a Panther fan and after Douglas’ punt return for a TD, he got up off his stool and left the bar without so much as a word. I yelled out to him, "Hey, the game ain’t over!" but someone near the door to the parking lot replied, "Yes it is!"
What a performance by our Birds today. That garbage Carolina TD didn’t dispel any of the celebrations by my cohorts. With Arthur Blank beaming on the sideline, many of us turned away from the sets and towards the blackboard where the 6 on our record was erased and replaced with a 7.
- Harry Douglas is a playmaker. He made several. Two touchdowns and some great returns.
- Turner burned in the redzone. Four TDs and an amazing performance on the ground.
- The Falcons hold grudges. The score was seventeen to zero in the second quarter. That Denver loss was an obvious motivation for our players and coaching staff.
- The Falcons can rebound after slouching. They always seem to slow down in the second half and were certainly fairly anemic in the third quarter but when they needed to show up in the fourth, they did. The fourth quarter mirrored the first for likely the first time all season.
- This is, as I've said before, truly a team. When Roddy is having an off day, HD stands up and says "I'll carry you." When Abe can't get to the QB, Davis says "I'll hit him for you, John." When Ryan is sixty percent accurate but scoreless, Turner says "Give it to me. I'll take it in."
- John Abraham should be triple teamed. That hit he laid on Delhomme took the QB's shoulder pads out of his jersey and tore a letterhead sized chunk of skin off his elbow.
- The shot of Peele holding the baby scared me. Don’t give that man children anymore. Listen up fans. Children are not autograph memorabilia.
What a game. We needed to win in the division and boy, did we win in the division. What better way to reaffirm our playoff hopes than trouncing division-top Carolina? New Orleans, your time is limited. For now, our boys have to focus on de-energizing those Bolts. GO FALCONS!

Burner's Return
I have a feeling Michael Turner wishes he could have saved a TD or 2 for this weekend’s game against the team that let him walk away. They disrespected this man by giving LT the ball 60 times a game and they wouldn’t give Turner his money. So he got his respect, he got his money, and now he’s going to get his revenge. He’s going to double LT’s rushing total (because the Birds will jump out to an early lead, forcing little Phillie Rivers to air it out all day).
Funny, the Bolts got LT because they traded the #1 pick to the Birds, so we could draft He-Whose-Name-Shall-Not-Be-Mentioned. Instead of getting LT those 7 years ago, the Birds instead sign his backup, who currently is thrashing his former mentor by the score of 318 yards and 7 TDs. And our new QB, who we had to draft because of the extra-curricular exploits of HWNSNBM, will now go into SD with our new RB and show the AFC West how we run things down South.
You shoulda given that man his money. Sleep tight, San Diegans, for your nightmare awaits in 6 days, when you are officially knocked out of playoff contention. But keep your heads up and stay classy, San Diego. As we are used to saying in the A, “There’s always next year.”
