Most Memorable Falcons Games Ever???

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the site but love what I see so far and can't wait to get more involved.

A question for you though- If you were to think back over the past 30 years or so of Falcons football, which individual games stick out most in your minds?  Things like huge comebacks, miraculous wins, crazy things that happened in the stands, SuperBowls, conference championships,  blunder type games (Leon Lett type things)?

Thanks guys!!  Just trying to get some insight into what makes the Falcons so special to so many of us!!

Is it odd

to post this exact same thing to every single team’s blog? I can understand being a fan of multiple teams, but jeez…

My favorite Falcons memory was when country singer Johnny Paycheck forgot the words while singing the National Anthem before a home game in the early ’70s. Now, he belongs to the ages…

Odd and possibly sinister

He’s going to steal our memories!

But since you asked, I have to go with the ‘98 NFC Championship. I have never gotten so pumped up by a football game as I did for that one, and the Vikings are still reeling from it…nobody’s ever going to take that one away from me.

'98 Vikes had to be the best win

but I wonder if they could have beaten our 1980 team. When I simulate a game here between the 1998 and 1980 Falcons, the old dogs usually win.

Another 97-98 memory

As a fan since 1970, I’ve seen a lot of high-, and low, lights, mostly on TV since I live in KY…a lot of them tend to run together. But one game I’ll never forget, and probably the greatest sporting event I personally have ever attended, was also from that great ’97‘98 year: the regular season home game in which the Falcons beat the 49ers to clinch the division, and also got a little payback for about a decades’ worth of humiliation. The only way that game could have been greater was if it had been on Monday Night, which has always been a horrorshow for the Birds. Anyway, packed Georgia Dome, the atmosphere was electric, we got up on them early thanks to that sweet Chandler play-action to Terance Mathis, and held off a furious Niner comeback late. We clamped down on Garrison Hearst, who left injured if I recall correctly. Best of all, from our seats on the 15-yard line I got to see Jerry Rice let a sure TD pass from Young go right through his hands, only to get laid flat on his ass a split-second later by Eugene (the Solicitor) Robinson. Everyone around me jumped up at least two feet in the air when that happened. It was especially sweet to me as I couldn’t stand Rice, thanks to years of running up the score on us with Montana and Young.

hmm...

Didn’t mean to put a strikethrough in there. Wish I could edit it…
