For early 70's Falcon fans
While reading Paul Lukas' latest Uni Watch column, in which he writes about acquiring a really cool-looking old NFL book, I came across this great picture of Bob Berry in the huddle with his Falcon teammates, and wanted to pass it on. Pretty cool, huh!
I see where the site is telling me that this has to be at least 75 words long, so here's a sentence to pad out the length. This is from when I became a fan of the team, when I was about 10 years old. I hope this fulfills the word requirement. Go Falcons!

Great picture!
Berry was our first QB that was worth half a crap IMO. Trivia: Berry and coach Van Brocklin attended the same college, Oregon. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Am I the only one...
…who actually misses Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium? I know, this is totally irrelevant, but I can remember every single time I got to go and walk on the field with PeeWee football or Little League teams, meeting both Flacons and Braves players, even once being interviewed on local TV at a Braves game because I had the same last name as the Braves 2B, Gregg and played with Jeff Treadways kids. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Ga. Dome and Turner Field, but I guess I’m just a stickler for the classics.
Old school hating of the 49’ers and the Pirates. Dale Murphy and Chris Miller. The Red helmets were always my favorite, most likely because I grew up on them in the 80’s. Oh well, good stuff. And a very nice picture that takes me back.

thanks for the memories
Only stadium i got to see in atlanta was Fulton county. I have been in Portland oregon since 1970 and been a fan since long before. Norm van brocklin, Claude Humphrey, Zook, NT and me in the stands as a youngster. Now if i can remember where i put my cookies and warm milk.

Great Picture - thanks !
Aside from the clean and simple uni design (great in both white & black), the other thing that strikes me is the size of the tackle in the picture ,Don Talbert # 72……hardly looks big enough to play weakside linebacker in today’s game,,,,Not many ‘roids or weight rooms back then, I guess…..I don’t consider myself a big guy (6-2, 245) but that’s as big of a lot of linemen back in 1968…..

Am I the only one that wishes they’d bring back the red helmets? I think it’d look good with the away unis. Maybe not the alt black…or red…ok never mind. Probably not a good idea.
I still wish they’d bring out the old red top/gray bottom unis every once and a while. A classic look.

They have!
Not sure if the league has ‘throwback uni’ days every year, but the Falcons have definitely used the red-red-silver uniforms from the 1970s-80s at least once within the last few years. My personal faves too.
