The Last Of The Open Threads: Falcons vs. Seahawks

It's fitting that the year is almost over. This game, win or lose, will finally finish off what has been unquestionably one of the most miserable seasons in recent memory. Today, I'm setting aside everything that has happened this year and rooting loudly for them to rout the Seahawk backups. Forget every scandal, coach problem and injury, folks, because after this it's (hopefully) all going to change.

I'll be liveblogging aside you if possible, so comment early and often.

Let's go Falcons!

Misery
...one of the most miserable seasons in recent memory.

Hell, if there's been a worse one since 1970, I can't recall it...!

I agree
We've had seasons where we lost games before, but this one has been harder than any of the others.  This season sure feels like we're cursed.

We're even making
Shaun Alexander look decent. This is abhorrent.

Snelling left end?
When you need one stinkin' yard on fourth down, go up the gut. At least you're more likely to not lose two yards.

The only upside....
...is that if we lose and both the Rams and Jets win, we're locked into the #2 draft pick.  Not much of an upside, but right now I take the bright spots where I can get them.

Now I'm torn
We have to lose to have a shot at the #2 pick, but if Holmgren is pulling his starters, we've got a chance to WIN!  I'm torn between which I want more.

I want to win
The difference between the 2 and 4 pick in this draft could be significant, I admit, but I still want the Falcons to prove they're good enough to beat the Seahawk backups.

Yeah
It doesn't matter who they play, I always want them to win, but I would like to be sitting pretty in that #2 draft spot for the future too.  Win today vs. build for the future.... hmm, still torn.

Jettison Joey and Byron
Chris Redman should be the only incumbent around next year. If they think they need to upgrade, look for the draft or a trade, but Redman's earned some mentor time with a young guy next season.

I agree
...on the Byron thing, Joey might be a serviceable backup.  Redman is really impressing.  So pissed I can't see this one.  Friggin blackout.
Let's matriculate the ball down the field boys.

I rest my case
Harrington might be too expensive if he ends up being a third stringer, but he'd be serviceable if he's willing to stick around.

However, Crisotbal Rojohombre rocks my socks!

41 POINTS!
Am I dreaming?

Wait, Seattle just scored with 7 minutes left...we may still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory yet.

And I'm totally on board with bringing Redman and Harrington back to camp, anyway- Joey hasn't been terrible, all things considered, and Redman has been probably the best story for the Falcons this year.

Nice Finish
Well, great finish to what has been what I think to be the hardest in franchise history.

Idea for a new posting:  I say we all reflect for a few days then submit a "My Thoughts On The Season" short essay.  I know I will be posting something in the next few days.

Let's matriculate the ball down the field boys.
